Antony Apeño

Antony is a Marine Biologist (2018) from the Universidad Científica del Sur, Peru.

During 2019, he worked as a assistant teacher in Biology at the Universidad Científica del Sur. In 2021, he worked for the course Contamination of Aquatic Environments and in 2022, he was a teacher at the Zoology course and Zootechnics, at the Faculty of Veterinary and Biological Sciences.

Antony has worked as a biodiversity specialist in Pantanos de Villa municipal authority (PROHVILLA) in the wildlife refuge and Ramsar site. Here he has worked as a specialist in marine coastal ecosystems and biodiversity in the NGO CooperAcción, where he carried out research, environmental education, training and workshops with artisanal fishermen, reed extractors and artisans. Within the same NGO he participated in the Coastal Marine Schools for Adaptation based on Ecosystems project, implemented in collaboration with the EbAMar Project and the German GIZ cooperation.

His lines of research are fauna and flora biodiversity, ecology and conservation of coastal wetlands. From 2022, Antony is a student at the Doctoral Program in Environmental Sciences, University of Concepción. His thesis is being guided by Dr. Cristian A. Vargas, Dr. Ricardo Barra, Dr. Stefan Gelcich and Dr. Gonzalo Saldías. In addition, he uses PAST and iNEXT (Interpolation and Extrapolation) tools for wetland biodiversity analysis.
